We don't just speak geek at Scoutware. Every aspect
of Scoutware is built with the every day user in mind. On staff, we
have three coaches including Will Callanen, Kate
Cronin,
and Amanda Carmichael, they provide unique insights and
serve to be an invaluable resource to Scoutware clients.
Amanda
Carmichael joined Scoutware in October of 2005 after spending
four years as the Assistant Golf Coach and Operations Director
of the Men’s and Women’s
Golf teams at UCLA.
During her time at UCLA her teams captured 31 team titles, 3 Pac-10
team titles, 4 Regional team titles and a Women’s NCAA Championship in 2004. In
addition to assisting with practice and traveling to events, Carmichael
was responsible for identifying potential recruits, organizing
visits, managing hosted events, creating a bi-monthly newsletter,
organizing camps, organizing fundraising efforts, managing the
new on-campus practice facility, ordering equipment and monitoring
the players' academic progress and eligibility.
As the Director of Client Services at Scoutware, Amanda is currently
responsible for overseeing the entire process of client delivery,
training, support and graphics. In the last year she has
visited over 50 Scoutware campuses and attended 7 conventions.

Kate
Cronin signed on with Scoutware in August of 2006.
Previously, Kate coached at Women’s Basketball at Brown University,
and at her alma mater, University of Vermont, where she played
from 1994-1998.
While coaching at Vermont, Kate was one of the first basketball coaches to use
Scoutware starting in 2003. With Scoutware she recruited nationally and signed recruits
from Canada, California, Minnesota, and Arizona, including an outstanding 2006
recruiting class featuring 2006-007 America East Rookie of the Year and Canadian U21 National Team Member,
Courtnay Pilypaitis. Kate also created numerous unique Scoutware graphics
which highlighted Vermont’s campus, surrounding area, and tradition-rich
women’s basketball program.
Prior to coaching at Vermont, Kate coached at Brown and helped the team to one
of the nation’s biggest turnarounds, improving from 5-22 in 2001-02 to
15-12 in 2002-03. Kate has also worked in sales and marketing for both
the Washington Mystics and Wizards.

Will
Callanen. As the newest addition to the Scoutware
team, Will has a fresh perspective on what it is like to
be a Scoutware customer. He served as an assistant
women’s
basketball coach at Loyola Marymount University and was the driving
force behind Scoutware usage while he was there. Prior
to his time at LMU, Will was a high school head coach for 10
years and was able to observe and participate in the recruiting
process from the other side.
Here is Will's perspective
on Scoutware and the recruiting process:
"From the collegiate
assistant perspective, Scoutware provided benefits in many areas. Most
importantly was the impact it had on our recruiting. The response
we received from prospects reached an entirely new level based on
the full color, graphical, linked emails we sent out. We
were able to track the effectiveness of these emails and tailor
our future communications efforts to each individual prospect. In
addition, it makes organizing and accessing all your information
on a prospect simple and more complete. This also had a
major impact on all our issues related to compliance.
It was an
easy product to use not only because of its flexibility and connectivity,
but also because of its intuitive and visually appealing format. New
members of our staff picked it up quickly and were able to utilize
its basic functions immediately.
An
unexpected benefit we found was cost savings. Through
a dedicated effort on our part, we moved almost entirely to email
based communication with prospects. We found that in the
course of the first twelve months of use we saved more money
on postage than we paid for the first year of the Scoutware annual
license. That didn’t include the cost of letterhead,
envelopes, and other mailing expenses.
As a high school
coach, it was very important for me to have an active roll in
the recruitment of my players. The more
regular communication I had with the college recruiters, the
better I could advise my players. Scoutware makes communication
with high school coaches easy. You can send mass email
about the status or activity of your team or you can send pointed
communications about a specific player.
Finally, as
a high school coach it was readily apparent the direction that
communications are moving with high school kids. They
are all connected to their email and other forms of electronic
communications at all times. It is the easiest way to reach
them and the best way to get to know them."
