Aurora, IL –July 16, 2006 – Scoutware, the collegiate athletic industry leader in recruiting communications, co-hosted along with Nike, its second annual Coaches Reception at the Marriott Hotel in Hoffman Estates, Illinois.
The event, held in conjunction with the National Basketball Events (NBE) Nike Summer Showcase, brought together nearly 100 coaches from several women’s college basketball programs including Stanford, Pepperdine, Oregon, University of California-Santa Barbara, Valparaiso, Siena, Dayton, and Denver.
The Summer Showcase (formerly the USA Cup) is the largest high school age, NCAA-certified observation event in the United States, and one of three Nike Elite sponsored women's basketball events during the important NCAA evaluation period. The Showcase is held at six multi-court, air-conditioned facilities in the Northwest Chicago suburbs.
The event typically draws more than 200 teams from 40+ states, including a majority of the nation’s most competitive club basketball programs and is attended by collegiate basketball coaches representing over 300 colleges and universities.
At the conclusion of the final day of the showcase, coaches enjoyed an evening reception that included appetizers, drinks, and provided an opportunity to network and share ideas related to recruiting.
Kate Cronin, Scoutware Director of Client Services, and a former basketball coach at the University of Vermont, was one of several staff members in attendance. “The Showcase is one of the biggest recruiting events of the summer, and we were looking for a way to get the coaches together to conclude a great weekend of basketball. As a former coach, it was nice to see some familiar faces at the reception have the opportunity to not only talk about my experience using Scoutware in recruiting, but the recruiting process in general.”
Other Scoutware staff in attendance included Andy Clark, Director of Sales and Marketing, Jeff Sernick, Director of Business Development and Jeromey Burke and Derek Thompson, both of the Client Services department.
