The Collegiate Business Conference, hosted by Double Pump, was held
Aug 2nd and 3rd in Los Angeles, California. The power packed conference, designed
as a networking and professional development event, brought together some
of the top names in collegiate and professional sports. Among the speakers
were legends such as Bill Russell, Bill Walton and Magic Johnson, as well
as current heavy hitters like Kelvin Sampson, Bill Self, Jamie Dixon and Bob
Huggins.
As part of the lineup of speakers, Kerry Keating once again took the
microphone on behalf of Scoutware. He spoke about the multitude of benefits
that Scoutware provides to the collegiate coach. This year however, his
talk had a slightly different tone. For the first time, Keating was speaking
as a head coach as he was recently named at West Coast Conference member,
Santa Clara University.
He spoke about how Scoutware lightens the communications burden for the
head coach, as assistants can send out emails on behalf of the head coach,
but direct the replies back to themselves. He also talked about how he
can easily go through a prospect’s profile to see the content of
his staff’s latest communications and quickly get caught up on his
entire staff’s efforts with this prospect.
In addition, Kerry discussed the benefits of keeping in close touch with
key people in your program. Boosters, alumni, and donors can occupy a
large percentage of the head coach’s time and managing these communications
is just as important as managing your recruits.
The benefits Kerry found in his previous position as recruiting coordinator
at UCLA revolved around the ease of tracking large groups of recruits,
maintaining accurate digital records of all communications with a prospect,
and easily creating lists of prospects that can be used over and over
again.
