Aurora, IL – December 2007 – Scoutware, the collegiate athletic industry leader in recruiting communications attended the America Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Convention in Sacramento, California held December 11th-15th.
Scoutware, an AVCA preferred communications partner, was once again part of the record setting events that surrounded the week, which was capped off by two Scoutware clients battling for the NCAA Championship, with Penn State beating Stanford in five games for the title.
“This was a transformational event for our association,” said Kathy DeBoer, AVCA Executive Director. “For the first time we had everyone under the same canopy—college, high school, juniors, beach, and international coaches. I’m quite certain that years hence, when we recount the ‘tipping point’ for the AVCA, we will mention the 2007 Sacramento convention.”
Scoutware staff members Will Callanen and Amanda Carmichael had the honor of participating in a coaches panel, along with three other college coaches who currently use Scoutware. Together with North Dakota State head coach Erich Hinterstocker, Georgetown University head coach Arlisa Williams, and University of the Pacific assistant coach Dave Johnson, Amanda and Will held a discussion attended by over 70 fellow coaches. The focus of the discussion was centered around communications success and getting your e-mail to the inbox, making sure your email read by your recipient, and doing more work in less time.
Each coach spoke candidly about his/her experience using Scoutware and how they have used Scoutware to make an impact on their program. Though the examples varied, the common denominator shared by all three was that Scoutware is a simple way to save time and money while creating visually appealing e-mails to communicate and build relationships with everyone who is connected to your program – recruits, coaches, alumni supporters, and more. As Coach Williams explained, "What used to take me 8 hours to do now takes me, literally, 8 minutes!”
Will Callanen, who used Scoutware as an assistant basketball coach at Loyola Marymount added, “There is definitely no doubt that giving people the inside scoop in a timely fashion excites your supporters and creates value for your program. In addition, sending program updates via email is faster and the news gets to your key people while it’s still news. Paper mail costs more, and takes longer. Not only that, but how often do you check your e-mail? Once a day? Less? I check my e-mail several times a day. Don’t we all?”
The 2008 AVCA Convention returns to Omaha, Neb., where in 2006, a record 34,000 fans attended the NCAA Championship matches. For more information about the AVCA or the 2008 Convention, visit www.avca.org or call 866-544-2822.
