Scoutware was created by Jeff Murphy, Cathy Talman and Rex Hall in 2001 when they decided to leave IBM, where they were doing web based messaging solutions, and apply their knowledge to college athletics.
Scoutware’s first client was Northwestern Men’s Basketball,
where they spent two years refining the system. Once perfected,
they introduced Scoutware at the NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship
in 2003. After one year, Scoutware had 32 clients at 18 different
universities. At the close of the second year, Scoutware had grown
to more than 100 different clients, covering every sport from equestrian
and crew to football and basketball. As of February, 2007, Scoutware
has grown to be the #1 communication tool for college athletic programs
with more than 1,120 clients at nearly 240 colleges/universities.
Headquartered in suburban Chicago, Scoutware has operations in Philadelphia, Los Angeles, and Cincinnati and has more than 25 employees.
