In April, Kerry Keating was introduced as the head men's basketball coach
at Santa Clara University. Keating came to Santa Clara after
serving for four seasons as an assistant coach at UCLA, helping the
Bruins to Final Four appearances in 2006 and 2007. At 35, Keating is the
youngest head coach in the West Coast Conference.
At UCLA, Keating made
a name for himself as one of the top recruiters in the nation as
well as one of the most technologically innovative assistant coaches
in college basketball. Rivals.com named him
as one of the nation's Top 25 collegiate recruiters.
In 2003, Keating
was named the "most high tech" assistant
in the nation by Scout.com. His recruiting efforts helped UCLA
earn the nation's No. 4 (Rivals.com) incoming freshman class in 2004
and the No. 13 (Scout.com) recruiting class in 2005. He was also
responsible for signing Kevin Love, the top player in the 2007 class
by Hoopscooponline.com.
Keating has also been featured in articles on
recruiting and technology in USA Today, Los
Angeles Times and The
Chronicle of Higher Education, in addition to serving as a frequent
clinician on the topic.
