Gould is widely regarded as not only the top collegiate tennis coach of all time, but among the best in any college sport. He guided the Cardinal to a record 17 NCAA team championships, 10 singles champions, and seven doubles champs in his 38 years at the helm. Gould twice was named Wilson/ITA National Coach of the Decade for the 1980s and 1990s.
Arguably one of the best fundraisers in collegiate athletics, Gould has set a Herculean $25 million fund-raising project within the last 10 years. Thus far he has been able to find donors to endow Stanford's 4.5 NCAA-allotted men's tennis scholarships, endow his post as director of men's tennis, and to give $5.6 million to expand the tennis stadium in 1997. More recently he was able to raise over $3 million dollars to host the first ever Men’s and Women’s NCAA Championships in 2006.
Scoutware has become an integral part of Gould’s promotional and fundraising efforts. The newsletter shown is a quick example of how Gould uses Scoutware regularly. With the click of a button this e-newsletter went out to more than 1600 boosters, alumni, and general supporters affiliated with Stanford Tennis.
By using Scoutware to send the e-newsletter Gould knew that his message was delivered and opened by his intended recipients. He received a bounce report the same day that showed less than 2% of his distribution list did not receive the e-newsletter and within 3 days of being sent, Gould knew that more than 70% of his recipients had opened the e-newsletter at least one time.
